new rank system

Going off of the comments in this thread, we've put together a new points-based rank system. But before we set anything in stone, we'd really like to get feedback from the community to know we're on the right track.

F.A.Q.s

1. Does this only apply to new resources/requests filled?

No. Anything you've posted, all the stuff currently in your show-off, can count toward the new rank system. No one has to start all over.

2. I'm currently ranked as a Protester, but when I add up my points I only have 100. Does that mean I'll be demoted?

Absolutely not. You've already earned that rank level fair and square through the old system. We're not going to demote you. You'll only need to have the right amount of points if you plan to move up to the next level.

3. What if I don't have all of my posted resources or requests in my show-off file?

Only the resources/requests listed in your show-off file can count toward your accumulation of points. The staff just does not have the time or manpower to search through the board and find everything for you. If you need to update your file, try going to your profile and click "Find all topics by this member".

4. Are there any other requirements for moving up the ranks?

No, we don't require you to have x amount of anything, or earn points in all three categories. What you do is entirely up to you.

As you may have noticed, post count and general forum activity are not included in this system. Why is that? Well, ranking systems are really designed to acknowledge and reward people who contribute to the site in ways that don't directly benefit themselves. Aside from personal pride at seeing something you made being used, you don't really get anything for posting your resources. Our rank system is our way of thanking people for the contributions they make.

Things like using resources or posting adverts in the directory weren't included because you're already directly benefiting from those sorts of things by getting visitors and sweet templates/skins/graphics to make your site look awesome.

Now, if there's interest in a post count-based rank system, we can create one. But it's going to be an either-or situation, where you can either take part in the rank system above OR one based on post count. So anyone who voted for post count ranks, please post here so we know there's actual interest in it.

Honestly, I love this system. I think the points are fair and work well! Now, I'm not sure if it's just me, but I can't seem to see the Show-Off Forums... Also, what does "BB Templates" include? Does that mean, like, Character Templates, Forum Templates....

BB Templates includes all templates created with BB Code, whether they be plot pages, applications, rule sheets, face claims, thread trackers, etc.

For the small graphic requests, what does one set mean? A sig and and icon?

If it does, since some people request only one, we could have it like Avi = 5 Pts, Sig = 10 Pts

Smaller graphics refers to things like avs, sigs, pips, sidebar graphics, link buttons, etc.

In most of the request threads I've seen, people tend to request sets. But it would make sense to add something in about single item requests. Instead of having different amounts for each type, I'd say just to set it at 5.

For instance, if some requests an avatar. If you make multiple versions, you'll get 15 for the set. If you make just one, you'll get 5 points. That make sense?
